Dundee  Sportsman's Club Inc supports the right to keep and bear arms and the lawful use of firearms by law abiding citizens.  To that end, the club offers training that meets the requirements for obtaining a Michigan Concealed Pistol License to both members and the general public at a nominal cost.  This is not a money making project, it is a public service by the Dundee  Sportsman's Club Inc.

The course offered by Dundee  Sportsman's Club Inc is the NRA Personal Protection in the Home course,  which includes:
 

  • Minimum of 8 hrs total class time including 3 hrs of shooting range time

  • Range course of fire – minimum of 96 rounds by each student

  • 1 hour presentation on the legal aspects of concealed carry by a lawyer

  • NRA Certified Instructors and Range Safety Officers

To qualify for this course, you must meet minimum requirements set by NRA:

  • NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate

  • NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program (pistol disciplines)

  • Pistol Qualification Card

  • Military DD 214 with pistol qualification

  • Michigan Concealed Carry Permit

  • Other Concealed Carry Permit

  • Passing the Pre-Course Evaluation

Dundee  Sportsman's Club Inc also offers the NRA First Steps course, which qualifies as a prerequisite, for persons who have limited experience with a handgun.  This is also an excellent course for individuals (adults or minors) who want to learn basic firearm safety taught in the context of handgun use.

1. Michigan CCW (NRA’s - Personal Protection in the Home)
This is an eight (8) hour course that generally takes 9-10 hours and is split over 2 days on some occasions. This course meets the legal requirements of Michigan Public Act 719 (2002). It includes a minimum one hour from an qualified attorney or law enforcement officer on the legal aspects of CCW and required shooting range time with your handgun and about 100 rounds of your ammunition. You will receive a 200 page NRA book and must pass both written and shooting tests prior to receiving a certificate of completion that is needed in order to apply for a Michigan Concealed Pistol License. The cost to is $125.00

PERSONAL PROTECTION TRAINING:
   We are back to our regular schedule – First Steps on the first Friday of the month and Personal Protection on the following Saturday.   If you have the time, we always need help on the range stapling targets.  If you can help, please call  at 734-529-3581.
     The PPT committee is looking at some changes to the way we support the classes.  Currently, some of the instructors are doing double duty performing the background tasks that are essential to a successful program.  We are looking at defining some jobs to be smaller and easier to accomplish without devoting too much time.  If you are interested in working with the PPT team but are not a certified instructor (or don't want to become one), please contact our club committee and volunteer.    We have a variety of tasks and can use the help.

National Reciprocity Bills to watch: S.388 & H.B.226. The legislation would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state to carry a concealed firearm in any other state, if they meet certain criteria. The bill would not create a federal licensing system — it would simply require the states to recognize each other's carry permits, just as they recognize drivers' licenses.
At present, States shaded in blue will not honor the Michigan CPL. We at MCRGO recommend that any time you travel to or through another state, you contact that state’s Attorney General and ascertain whether or not they’ll honor your permit and find out what if any additional restrictions that state imposes. Remember: when you carry in another state, you still have to recognize their rules and their off-limits areas just as people from other states have to do when they come here.
