Volunteers make a difference

Who has the most fun with Special Olympics Monroe Michigan? Sometimes it's a toss-up between our volunteers and our athletes. Some of the things our volunteers say:

  • I feel good about giving back to the community.
  • I am inspired by the athletes' effort and courage.
  • This program is what sports is really about.
  • Volunteering keeps me active.

You can help our athletes achieve their goals and dreams. Volunteers are needed in many different capacities. Coaches are needed to train our athletes. Other volunteer positions include: chaperones and drivers, scorekeepers and officials, fund raising coordinators, newsletter editors, and special event volunteers.

You can volunteer for one day or throughout the year. Get started on becoming a volunteer today!

Volunteers can't help but get caught up in the excitement. People with mental retardation get a chance to shine in Special Olympics. You can join the 18,000 Michigan volunteers who make it happen!

Recruitment for volunteers goes on all year long. There is always an upcoming opportunity to volunteer, whether it is on the local or state level.

If you would like to help out in your local community, please use the convenient online volunteer interest form to submit your name and contact information.

If you would like to volunteer specifically for one of our eight state competitions, click on the event name to go to the corresponding website.

How Can You Help?
