D.S.C. OBI Being Used In Pistol League
OBI BEING USED IN PISTOL LEAGUE

Something new has been added to the Indoor Pistol League—the requirement that each shooter use an OBI.

The OBI (a.k.a. Open Bolt Indicator) is a high profile, brightly colored “indicator” that is placed in the open cylinder or chamber of a firearm for the Range Officer (or anyone else) to see that your firearm is in a safe condition. The OBI is a major step in firearm safety in eliminating or minimizing the risks of unintentional death or injury of damage caused by improper possession, storage or handling of firearms.

A few years ago at a shooting club not too far from DSC an unintentional discharge of a firearm occurred resulting in injury to a bystander and eventually a $1,000,000 court judgment against the club.  Fortunately this club had sufficient insurance coverage.  After the incident this club’s insurance liability rates increased substantially.   If an OBI had been used the injury would not have occurred, the law suit would have not happened, and the Club would still have affordable insurance rates.
